Interested in learning to play the guitar?
Too many people put down their instrument because they feel uninspired. Why? Because students are subjected to rules and regulations that aren’t necessary for achieving their goals. With years of professional experience and a first class honours degree in Contemporary Music Performance - you’re in safe hands when it comes to the technical side of learning the guitar but your own goals will always be the priority. Learning to express your thoughts through music can be a life changing experience, why not start with the guitar?
My teaching method allows students to express their creativity - their own message - through music, while still developing the technical and theoretical skills required to be a great player.
My approach to tuition - TED.
T - Trust. It is important that you can trust your tutor to teach valid information, and help you progress with your best interest in mind. I have been both playing and teaching professionally for over 5 years, and am fully DBS/CRB verified.
E - Education. As well as providing useful information and making my lessons exciting and inspiring, for some students (or parents) it is important that my students learn content that meets syllabus requirements. As well as covering the 'want' to learn, what students 'need' to learn will also be addressed alongside.
D - Development. Setting goals and meeting them can be an important aspect to learning anything. Working with my students to set and meet clear objectives is an important feature of my teaching method.

I currently teach 1 to 1 lessons from my teaching studio in London (SW11) or from the comfort of your own front room (subject to travel). If you’re outside of London (or in a different country!) but you’d still like to further your guitar journey with me - I also offer online lessons through Skype/Zoom!
Still Not Convinced?
Music is a language, just like English or French. When you learned to speak your first language, did you have somebody telling you what you could and couldn't do? No! You learned by being immersed in language, built words, sentences and messages that allowed you to communicate with other people. Music is EXACTLY the same. My teaching method revolves around allowing students to express their creativity - their own message - through music and with years of teaching experience and a First Class Degree in Contemporary Music Performance, you’re in safe hands!
What people are saying.
“Angus has been teaching guitar at Hickies for the past 2 years, during this time he has proved to be great asset to our music school. In addition to being extremely reliable he has had nothing but excellent feedback from his students. It is a pleasure to work with Angus, his friendly and approachable manner makes a great environment for both staff and customers.”
— Vanessa Taylor (Hickies Music)
“I was so impressed with how patiently and well Angus taught my son that I started having lessons myself. Angus is an excellent musician and teacher, able to communicate well both face to face and over a video connection.
When I started I practiced only when the family were out. Now I'm thinking of practicing with other musicians.”
— Alan Blake (Student)
“I have found Angus to be professional, reliable, punctual and extremely efficient. He is very personable, well presented and a great pleasure to work with. He is also great with the children, and passed all the security checks without a problem.”
— Trevor Bissell (Director of Music - Moulsford)
